Accessories play a vital role in the definition of ‘modern woman’ – whether it be from a practical perspective or as a fashion statement, handbags and watches are only a small portion of the variety of accessories available to fashionistas this season. My personal favourite? Anya Hindmarsh – she has put her stamp on this season’s must-have handbags: think ‘supermarket chic’.
Anya Hindmarch and Chanel have created a chic supermarket theme that looks bold and beautiful; if you saw Hindmarch’s showcase at London Fashion Week last February then you’ll already be familiar with her new collection. The showcase was spectacular and a great visualisation of the wide variety of sources from which designers get their inspiration. My favourite Chanel piece would be the ‘Lait De Coco’ milk carton style handbag. It retails at £2,590.
‘The Supermarket is an expression of our times; the pop art of everyday life.’ – Karl Lagerfeld.
If Supermarket Chic isn’t for you then maybe you should take a look at the new hand-painted leather handbag range from Burberry. You might have seen their recent advertising campaign in which Cara Delevingne returns as the leading face. The bags are unique, unusual and highly enviable. £2,495 is the retail price for these beauties – a truly exquisite staple piece to invest in.
Sports Luxe is still on tend despite its long running appearances in many fashion magazines. Monochrome is set to remain huge for Autumn/Winter 2014 and accompanies the theme of sports luxe perfectly. Dior’s embellished sequin leather trainers are exquisite and beyond classy, £740 seems a little extravagant but they will last – and just think, one day they will be classed as vintage. If trainers aren’t your cup of tea then Miu Miu have the perfect PVC and polyester-gabardine boots. They are chic and they also look surprisingly super comfortable! These little gems come in at a grand £645 per pair.
If you are a major trend follower then I suggest you check out Dolce and Gabbana’s new velvet embellished handbag: blue velvet covered in dreamy gems and a cute gold padlock situated in the middle at the front. £2,363.
Grafea’s limited edition range of rucksacks are to die for. I have been a lover and supporter of Grafea for a while now and the distinctive silhouette is starting to be recognised across the world. Grafea bags are becoming more and more popular so get one while you can. Their limited edition Floral and Poison rucksacks retail at £220.
